The Great Mountains form the spine of this isolated realm, dividing territories and cultures that might otherwise never have met. For centuries, the peoples of these lands have developed separately, occasionally trading or warring across mountain passes, but largely focused on their own affairs. Now, everything is about to change.
Word has spread of a miraculous blue stone found only on Khazghazen Island—Whisperstone. This rare material amplifies magical energy, enhances weapons, powers revolutionary technologies, and even extends life when properly processed. The reclusive and violently territorial Khazghazen have lived atop this treasure for generations, unaware of its true value, attacking any who approach their shores.
Now, the five major powers surrounding the Great Mountains eye this prize with growing hunger. The blood-worshipping Balhurn of Iceightskar see Whisperstone as the key to opening portals to their dark gods. The mercantile Leporidians of Querqandro calculate the immense profits to be made. The beautiful but fierce Lychwalfen of Troschtar dream of enhanced weapons and armor. The militaristic humans of Ztuxha see a path to domination. And the coral-bodied Myrallion along the southern coast envision integrating Whisperstone into their very bodies.
The stage is set for a contest that will determine the fate of the realm. Who will be King of the Hill?
Players take control of one of the five major cultures surrounding Khazghazen Island. The primary objective is to secure a steady supply of Whisperstone by any means necessary—whether through trade, diplomacy, conquest, or subterfuge.
The scenario begins with all cultures having minimal knowledge of Whisperstone's potential. As research progresses, its applications will become more apparent, intensifying competition. The Khazghazen, controlled by the Worldkeeper, defend their island with savage determination, requiring players to develop creative strategies to access the coveted resource.
Victory can be achieved through multiple paths, but all revolve around Whisperstone acquisition and utilization. The game evolves through several distinct phases:
Discovery Phase: Learning about Whisperstone and its applications
Access Phase: Establishing initial routes to acquire the resource
Control Phase: Securing long-term access and potentially denying it to rivals
Utilization Phase: Leveraging Whisperstone to achieve cultural objectives
